WHO ARE YOU REALLY?
Love it or hate it.... "Mrs Browns Boys" has hit our shores in a BIG way. So much so that the whole production is moving to Australia early next year much to the delight of fans. Sixty Minutes even dedicated a segment to interview the mastermind behind the show.
Brendan O'Carroll (Mrs Brown) shared his real-life story growing up as a sibling of 11, his politically ambitious mother, his failed attempt at pub ownership and subsequent marriage breakdown, a foray into stand up comedy and the rise of Mrs Brown.
LIFE CHANGING MOMENT
It was Brendan's step into stand up that had him realise the importance of BEING WHO YOU ARE. He realised that much of his life was dedicated to being who others wanted or expected him to be.
SO... WHO AM I THEN?
Ummmmm...... wife, mother, teacher, blogger, makeup artist, salon owner, human being (sometimes), woman.... not to mention all the minor roles that go with the BIG ONES..... soccer mum, canteen mum, negotiator, banker, cleaner, chef, nurse, artist, creator.....
I guess what Brendan was REALLY trying to get across was to live your life with integrity and honesty.... to realise when everything gets "a little bit too much", to ask for help and to give it.
We all need a little bit of humour in our lives. Laughter releases tension. It helps us bond with one another and can dissipate feelings of worthlessness when we have done wrong or made a mistake. After all.... NO-ONE IS PERFECT!
FOOTNOTE: At the time of writing this VERY blog, Mr G asked me to come into the study to hear some music he had just downloaded. I had just completed the writing and needed to add my photo's. In haste to do this (as he had a sulk the last time I didn't rush to his call), I accidentally DELETED my whole post!!!! At the time this was NOT a very humorous moment as there was no back up copy.
LUCKY I dutifully try to follow my own advice and have now laughed at this incident.... after a hearty glass of wine.
Ask yourself "Who am I? " Do you like your reply?
