WINTER IS COMING & YOU WANT TO ROCK A BOLD LIP.
Summer found us wearing various shades of: THE NUDE LIP
. While this look is fairly effortless to wear,
a few of you are now ready to move on towards a darker shade in preparation for the winter months. Face It with Hair Flair
have some favourites on offer:
The RED LIP
is always a winner. A Matte finish is a good fashionable choice and has great staying power. Try our MATTE REAL RED, MATTE WINTER RED
or POISON APPLE.
If you are after something "wetter" OH SO RED
is a good alternative.
The BERRY LIP
has made a return this year too. SINFUL
is a deep bold substitute for a break out of the traditional reds. ( Stay in the loop for some NEW BERRY
shades soon )TOO SHOCKING?
As a rule I have ALWAYS
worn my lipsticks in fairly dark or vibrant shades. This summer we had so many lovely nudes on offer that I became a NUDE GIRL
. The thing with being a NUDE GIRL
is that when you try and go back to wearing those luscious darker colours it can come as a bit of a shock. THE SOLUTION
I'm going to share a few techniques that will EASE
you into wearing those glorious REDS & BERRIES
1. PREPARATION -
Make sure your lips are clean and moisturised. Dark shades are unforgiving if your lips are chapped, peeling & dry.
2. LIP-LINER IS YOUR FRIEND
- Use a basic shade such as Face It with Hair Flair
lip-liner in PINK NUDE
. As you can see in the picture below, the lip is outlined and then shaded in. A nude was chosen in this case because we are NOT wanting our final lip to be too dark on this occasion. Why fill in the whole lip? This is good practice particularly when using darker lip shades so that colour wears evenly. The last thing you want is a dark lip outline at the end of a meal.
3. BUILD YOUR COLOUR
- Using a lip brush, apply colour to the outer section of the lips. In this example, SINFUL
was used. Find a complementary lighter shade such as AU NATURAL
and blend from the centre. Mixing colours like this will give you the confidence to gradually darken the shade over time. ie: Using less of the lighter shade.
4. MORE EFFORT
- Let's face it - Darker lipstick choices DO
require a bit more effort than a nude. The results are quite striking and well worth the extra time.
going to try this technique and GET BOLD
before you know it?
