DID SOMEONE SAY SHOPPING????
I must confess that I have been somewhat of a "shopaholic" since I was able to walk. I had the best teacher too - my mum. We bonded over shopping experiences and still delight in doing it to this today.
HOW DO YOU KNOW IF YOU ARE A SHOPAHOLIC?
These are some tell tale signs:
1. Your pulse races as you pull up into your self "designated" car parking space.
2. The first deep breath taken on entering the store leaves you giddy with anticipation.
3. Your eyes roam uncontrollably to drink in everything at once.
4. You feel "AT HOME".
5. The staff call you by your first name!!!!!
Not so long ago, I became a bit jaded .... OK I admit.... after five minutes... I did get over that feeling and came out the other side with MANY BAGS FULL. The problem seemed to occur when I ventured into a few familiar shops and..... I DIDNT LIKE WHAT I SAW!
WHAT DID I SEE?
I saw: TOO MANY "SALE" signs.
: Lethargic, unsmiling staff.
: Sloppy dressing rooms.
I don't know if it is just me.... but I absolutely HATE paying full price for a coveted item, only to see it halve in price the following week - (before said "coveted item" has even been worn). I have a peculiarity where I like to see my newly purchased garment get acquainted, for a few days, with the other clothes in my wardrobe before I wear it. Too many "SALES" devalues the whole shopping experience for me.
Staff that don't even look up at you upon entering their store is another pet peeve. I liken it to going into someones home.... you greet a guest with a welcoming smile - at least. Why would you purchase something when you have had NO acknowledgement that you even exist in the store in the first place???
Untidy dressing rooms and hand-marked mirrors .... enough to make a person question what has gone on in the place before you arrived! Enough said.
ON A BRIGHTER NOTE
For some reason..... in my jaded state and all.... I entered a store I had been avoiding for a while. THE BRA SHOP. Don't get me wrong....I LOVE buying lingerie as a rule, but I was at the stage where I really needed an expert opinion and fitting. (That bit I don't LOVE so much).
ANYWAY..... The young girl that served me was an AMAZING sales assistant. She was patient, professional, knowledgeable, efficient, friendly, not at all pushy, skilled at up-selling and....... I left with three new lingerie sets, a wash bag, a discount voucher for my NEXT purchase AND most importantly a smile on my face.
