Serendipity landed me on a very special moment, whilst Saturday morning TV channel surfing.....
..... Ashton Kutcher had just won an award on "The Teen Choice" event for 2013 and was ready to make his acceptance speech.
He looked casually attired and suited the environment of a teen audience; although he did refer to himself as a grandpa at one stage. The internal cringe surfaced as I mentally prepared for absolute dribble to come from his mouth... (picturing his characters in "That 70's Show" & "Two & A Half Men").
ONE, TWO, THREE
Nothing could have prepared me for the respect I was about to bestow on this man.
His speech was short and to the point. Beginning with three KEY words about what he has learned in life.
2. BE SEXY
3. LIVE LIFE
DON'T judge just yet.... he did go on to explain....
1. OPPORTUNITY - Comes from HARD WORK.
Ashton worked many ordinary jobs on his way to success (dish washer, sweeper in a factory...). He never left a job until he had a new one to fill. Living by the quote: "I have never had a job in my life that I was better than". In other words.... don't think you are too good to do menial tasks on your way to the top.
2. BE SEXY - Is NOT PHYSICAL.
To be truly SEXY in this world... is to have a generous heart, to be thoughtful of others and to be reallySMART. Ashton was saying that the SURFACE STUFF is not something that lasts, to endure yourself to others is to be the best HUMAN BEING you can be. At the end of the day.... beauty fades, dumb is boring and an ego manic is certainly NOT attractive.
3. LIVE LIFE - Living your own life NOT SOMEONE ELSES.
This third point was one that Ashton referred to as one he recently "re-learned" himself. What he meant was that family and education should be priority. That you can achieve your OWN goals without being intimidated by the success of others. His quote: "Build a life, don't live one" is a poignant one as it asks that we WORK at our lives. I guess he also means to be "present" and "conscious" in how we go about living.
NOW THAT'S SEXY
Pretty cool words of wisdom... from a celebrity... to his teen fans.
