LET'S GET REAL
OK....we are a couple of weeks into January now... time to be honest... hands up if all of your New Years Resolutions have already fallen into the "too hard" basket?
Want to know WHY?
You basically set yourself a goal so high that it was unachievable - in the short term. The secret to SUCCESS when setting goals is the ability to start with something smaller, achievable and visually obvious. When you have mastered this technique you can begin to set more long term goals. It makes sense right?
We live in a society where everything is at our fingertips and at the click of a button, with immediate results. Therefore we want our "goals" to be achieved quickly (unrealistically) too.
The most common goals people seek to achieve each year are improved fitness, weight-loss and healthier eating. These are LONG TERM GOALS and most of us want to see results straight away. You need total commitment, time and mindfullness to see positive results.
I want you to pull out Christmas photos from your Album, Facebook or Instagram over the past three or four years.....go on DO IT NOW, then come back to this page.
TAKE A GOOD LOOK
Have a look at yourself. How have you changed?
1. Are you smiling?
2. Are you with the people you love?
3. Do you look happy?
4. Have you changed much physically?
It is normal and positive to want to set ourselves up for a fresh New Year. The problem is... if our goals are too difficult to achieve we are more likely to give in and give up.
SO....WHAT DO I DO NOW?
I have TWO very quick, immediate tasks you can set about achieving. They require little effort on your part and could set you up for the more difficult challenges later. You will receive verbal recognition from people closest to you (even strangers) and hopefully this will encourage further steps to personal improvement.
1. GET A PROFESSIONAL TO STYLE YOUR HAIR - Have another look at those Chrissy photos. Does that drab ponytail and mousy brown hair exist the WHOLE four years? DON"T PANIC - If you have a good relationship with your hairdresser, this doesn't mean you MUST have short hair. It could be something as simple as a few layers to flatter your face shape or a more appropriate colour for your age and skin tone.
