I recently had the pleasure of meeting the glam man of the makeup world "Napoleon Perdis". His seminar was amazing for quite a few reasons:
a) He wasn't supposed to be there - we were told his crew would be running the show.
b) His enthusiasm and honesty.
c) His business mind.
Napoleon is a man who likes to make a grand entrance. Music, mayhem and half naked, tanned men in white jeans flank his side.
He has a tongue- in- cheek style that exudes fun, anticipation, glamour and excitement. Napoleon freely admits that he LOVES all the attention... He loves "the show" and all things media related.
What struck me most of all.... behind all the glitter and fuss.... was the generous nature in which he shared his business ideas. So much of what he said confirmed aspects I have already put in place with our own makeup range "Face It with Hair Flair".
LIVE AND LEARN
I came away with three tips that I have heard a million times before, even throughout my career as a
a) Don't take anything personally.
b) Learn from your mistakes and criticisms.
c) Don't care what other people think of you.
It was great to hear them AGAIN because sometimes we tend to forget that we are HUMAN! People often have their own agendas, can be nasty, anger is often misdirected and you may just happen to get in the way. To grow and learn, mistakes will (and must) be made, nobody is perfect the first time they try something. Don't expect EVERYONE you meet to love you or even like you. People will talk about you - don't worry about it - run your own race - be happy with what you are doing. Focus on your own goals.
It is so true that self doubt is your own worst enemy. Everyone has moments like this. What is important.... is to push through those feelings, hang around with people who support you, keep positive and don't give up.
IT MAKES ME LAUGH
There are people out there that sit back and like to say "I could do that.."
THEY AREN'T - YOU ARE!!!!
BE PROUD OF YOURSELF AND KEEP GOING.
