CELEBRATE BEAUTY AT ANY AGE
FINALLY.... FASHION DESIGNERS & MAGAZINE EDITORS.... are recognising that beauty exists beyond the age of 20.
Does it have something to do with the growth of our ageing population or the fact that the older generation are a little more "cashed up" than their younger counterparts? We are living longer, work past retirement age, remain healthier and more mobile than previous generations. Older people are moreVISIBLE these days.
There is no longer an excuse for women to pack up their makeup kits and pretty clothes with the exclamation that... "I'm past all that". It really does come down to good grooming (I have written about this several times before, and will continue to do so). That old mantra is true...The better you "look", the better you "feel".
The beautiful Carmen Dell'Orefice at the age of 82.... has graced the cover and numerous pages of the latest Peter Alexander catalogue. She looks AMAZING... strong, confident, knowing, joyous ANDis rocking SUPER RED LIPS!
Designer Karen Walker has also followed in the "older model trend" for her 2013 EYEWEARcampaign. She has chosen models between the ages of 65 and 92. The catch phrase to go with the campaign is "Who says you have to be young to be fashionable?"
What do you think of this OLDER MODEL trend?
I personally think it is exciting. The trend gives me hope that I don't have to surrender my passion for fashion anytime in the near future.
